“The NPP cannot be underestimated, they’ve been existence for a long
time and have been changing their names till this date, the nature of
who they are, what they are, where they’ve come from is something they
are happy with and they will be there for a long time.
"The calculation of what and who they …it is important that we fight
this election on our terms and not their terms. Let us not mimic their
behavior,” Rawlings told the teeming NDC supporters in Cape Coast where
the party is launching its campaign for the 2016 elections.
Meanwhile, Communications minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah has said the
President will win the elections because he is humble.
“Ghanaians will vote for John Mahama because he is humble and it is that
kind of leadership Ghana needs. Ghanaians want people who love peace
and the President has shown over the years that he is peace loving and
brings everyone on board," he told Nana Aba Anamoah at Cape Coast.

President
John Mahama has crowned the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP)
champions in vitriolic attacks in Ghana’s body politic.
“They are even quick to threaten people who differ with the opinions of the leader with physical harm. It is clear that they have already won an Olympic gold medal in insults,” he stated.
President Mahama made the comment while addresing party members at Cape Coast during NDC's campaign launch, Sunday.
According to him, "those who can hurl the most verbal abuse are those hailed most in the largest opposition party".
The President expressed worry at the development in the political party that prides itself as democratic since “the verbal abuse has led to a culture of silence in the largest opposition party".
“…It has been the characteristics and a feature in this elections; that the EC is attacked every step of the way by the NPP. And it is part of the strategy to discredit the EC.
President Mahama said he is now immune to the insults from members of the NPP since even "former President Kufuor on whose trackrecord they using to come back to power is not spared".
“….The mark of a leader is one that is able to unite his supporters behind him. They are now quick to commend people who hurl insults at me and my government. Even the former President Kufuor has not been spared the brunt of their attacks.

Speaking at the 2016 campaign launch of the NDC in Cape Coast, Mr. Mahama mocked developments in the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition saying the party has silenced all level-headed people within its fold.
“…It has been the characteristics and a feature in this elections; that the EC is attacked every step of the way by the NPP. And it is part of the strategy to discredit the EC.

The President also advised members of the NDC not to lose focus but concentrate on preaching the achievements of the government since that is the only sure way to win the December 7 polls.
